Very Rare Key Wind Verge Fusee Pocket Watch

This watch every museum would be proud of. It is a very rare key wind verge fusee pocket watch. It was manufactured between 1790 and 1800.

The case of this beautiful pocket watch is 18 K gold and as you can see it is in great shape. The porcelain dial has some hairlines and one crack on the outer edge where the 3 o'clock position is on a regular watch.
The dial has a calender on the upper part and the watch on the lower part.

The month on the calender has the day of the month in a half circle around the dial and the large hand shows the actual date. When it hits the end of the month, it flips back to the first. The same is true for the day of the week which is in the lower half circle with the smaller hand. As you can see, the day hand and the watch hands are fancy hands while the date hand is clean. Besides the day of the week, there are astral signs such as the sun and the moon on the date dial as well.

The watch is in the lower circle on the dial with the roman numerals and the fancy small hands. It is very pretty.

On the inside of the back the pocket watch has a number that says LB 5658. On the regulator dial there is another fancy inscription that looks like Avance Retard

The watch part of this pocket watch works fine but the calender part has 2 gears missing and does not work. The chain underneath the dial is still there that kicks the hands back to one but with the missing gears both day and date functions do not work.
As you can see on the pictures the watch comes complete with the key to wind.

In perfect condition this watch sells around $14,000. Do not let this go by, it is a premier piece for every collector and museum to have.
